New York State’s government is irrevocably broken and structurally unresponsive to the needs of Upstate. We feel it is evident that regardless of the persons or party running New York State’s government, the system itself has proven itself to be endemically corrupt and incompetent. Further, New York State has consistently made policy with only short term, “next election cycle” considerations in mind so that it is simply financially unsustainable. And given the population, wealth, and media disparity between Upstate and New York City, this rotten status quo is unable to be changed as the City’s interests will inevitably be prioritized over those of Upstate.
